Grenson Footwear

Grenson was founded in the mid-nineteenth century after William Green's mother taught him how to produce men's boots at home. Green went on to create his own company and attracted some of the finest shoe manufacturers in the business to his newly opened factory – the first to use the Goodyear welt construction method for making gentlemen's shoes. Surviving the hard times of the depression and the war, Grenson was drafted in to make shoes and boots for British soldiers, and by the end of the 1940s they were producing more lines of footwear than ever before. Now, 150 years on from its humble Northampton beginnings, Grenson is regarded as one of the most important manufacturers of the modern footwear market due to the unrivalled quality of its brogues, boots, and derby shoes.
